The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. NDI has worked in Albania since 1991, helping to increase the public’s participation in decision-making at the local and national levels, organizing and supporting election monitoring and voter education, and fostering the development of political parties and emerging political leaders. NDI is a non-partisan organization that works with all of Albania’s major political parties, as well as with domestic non-governmental organizations and citizens groups, government institutions, and international organizations.
